DSIP Units Chart (10 mg vial)

Worked example
For 10 mg of DSIP, the chart row for 2 mL shows 5 mg/mL: 250 mcg is 5 units and 500 mcg is 10 units. The 5 mL row drops the concentration to 2 mg/mL and moves 250 mcg to 12.5 units.

How it works

Each cell is units = target amount in mg / concentration x 100, where concentration = vial mass / water volume. For 10 mg in 2 mL the concentration is 5 mg/mL, so a 250 mcg example amount is 0.25 / 5 x 100 = 5 units.

Frequently asked questions

How many units is 250 mcg of DSIP from a 10 mg vial?

It depends on the water volume: 2.5 units with 1 mL, 5 with 2 mL, 7.5 with 3 mL and 12.5 with 5 mL in a 10 mg vial.

Why does adding more water change the unit reading?

More water lowers the concentration, from 10 mg/mL at 1 mL to 2 mg/mL at 5 mL, so the same target amount occupies more volume and reads more units.

How much DSIP is in one unit on a U-100 syringe?

One unit is 0.01 mL. At 5 mg/mL (the 2 mL row) one unit holds 50 mcg of DSIP.
