Side effects, contraindications and regulatory status

Reported side effects

  • In a 4-week trial of intravenous glutathione 1,400 mg three times a week (21 adults with Parkinson's disease), adverse events were similar to placebo and none led to withdrawal.[1] Human trial
  • Oral glutathione 500 mg/day for 4 weeks (60 healthy adults) was very well tolerated; the authors state that long-term safety has not been established.[3] Human trial
