Oxytocin Units Chart (2 mg vial)
Worked example
For 2 mg of Oxytocin, the chart row for 2 mL shows 1 mg/mL: 250 mcg is 25 units and 500 mcg is 50 units. The 5 mL row drops the concentration to 0.4 mg/mL and moves 250 mcg to 62.5 units.

How it works
Each cell is units = target amount in mg / concentration x 100, where concentration = vial mass / water volume. For 2 mg in 2 mL the concentration is 1 mg/mL, so a 250 mcg example amount is 0.25 / 1 x 100 = 25 units.
Frequently asked questions
How many units is 250 mcg of Oxytocin from a 2 mg vial?
It depends on the water volume: 12.5 units with 1 mL, 25 with 2 mL, 37.5 with 3 mL and 62.5 with 5 mL in a 2 mg vial.
Why does adding more water change the unit reading?
More water lowers the concentration, from 2 mg/mL at 1 mL to 0.4 mg/mL at 5 mL, so the same target amount occupies more volume and reads more units.
How much Oxytocin is in one unit on a U-100 syringe?
One unit is 0.01 mL. At 1 mg/mL (the 2 mL row) one unit holds 10 mcg of Oxytocin.
