Reconstitution, step by step

  1. Vial

    The vial holds lyophilized powder.

    Vial contents
    15 mg
  2. Diluent

Bacteriostatic water is added to the vial.

    Water added
    2 mL
  3. Mix

Swirl gently until the powder has dissolved. The concentration follows from the vial contents and the water.

Frequently asked questions

How is the concentration of a reconstituted vial calculated?

Divide the vial contents in mg by the water volume in mL. A 10 mg vial with 2 mL of water gives 5 mg/mL. The volume for a target amount is the target in mg divided by that concentration.

What is a unit on a U-100 syringe?

A U-100 syringe has 100 units per mL, so one unit is 0.01 mL. The units figure is the volume in mL multiplied by 100. A 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL and 1 mL syringe hold 30, 50 and 100 units.

What does draws per vial mean?

It is the vial contents in mcg divided by the target amount per draw. It is arithmetic only and ignores any volume left in the vial or needle.

Where do the vial size buttons come from?

They are the sizes in the Pepcore catalogue for the compound. When Pepcore does not sell it, they are the sizes recorded in published sources. A button only fills in the vial size; the target amount is always yours to enter.

Is this calculator for human use?

No. It is arithmetic for laboratory research. The compounds covered on this site are sold for research use only and are not intended for human consumption.
